Professional Biography
Dr Barankin is a widely published author and researcher, with more than 300 articles in publications related to dermatology and the humanities.  His medical expertise is featured monthly in the Canadian Journal of Diagnosis, The Canadian Journal of CME, and Skin & Aging. His expertise is frequently sought by the Canadian press including the Globe & Mail, National Post, Elle and Flare magazines, Wish, GLOW and NUVO magazines, CBC radio and many others. Dr Barankin is regularly utilized by insurance companies and law firms to serve as a medical expert on their most challenging cases.

Dr. Barankin often educates dermatologists, family physicians, medical trainees, and the public on matters related to the skin, hair and nails. Dr. Barankin is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences where his research has garnered numerous awards. He travels extensively to scientific meetings to stay at the cutting edge of dermatology research and technologies. He reviews research papers for numerous medical journals including the Canadian Medical Association Journal, the British Medical Journal, and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He also sits on the advisory and editorial boards of publications such as the National Review of Medicine and the International Journal of Dermatology

Dr. Barankin has gained international distinction as the author of six books related to dermatology. In 2002, he co-founded Dermanities (www.dermanities.com), an online quarterly journal for patients and physicians dedicated to the study of the relationship between dermatology and the humanities. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recently invited him to attend the AAD Leadership Forum in recognition of his leadership in the field. Dr. Barankin is also the sports dermatologist to the University of Toronto Varsity athletes and the FC Toronto soccer team.

Throughout his career, Dr. Barankin has made a point to train with some of the best dermatologists in Canada and the United States to enhance his knowledge and skills. He combines his interest in the humanities with his knowledge of medical dermatology to optimize the care of his patients with skin diseases.
