Professional Biography
Dr. Philippe Abimelec was born and raised in Paris, France, where he currently practices dermatology. He is also a consultant in nail diseases and surgery at Saint-Louis Hospital. Dr. Abimelec received his MD degree from René-Descartes University, graduating in 1984. He completed his dermatology residency at Saint-Louis Hospital followed by a fellowship with Dr. Bernard Ackerman at New York University Medical Center.

Over the past several years, Dr. Abimelec has been teaching at the Lariboisière Saint-Louis and Pitié-Salpétrière Universities. In addition, he has lectured in Europe and North America at universities and medical meetings, including those of the American of Academy of Dermatology and the European Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Abimelec's academic work pertaining to nail diseases has been presented at professional meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals.

Active in a number of professional associations, Dr. Abimelec is a fellow of the Société Française de Dermatologie, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the International Society for Hair Restoration Surgery, the Council for Nail Disorders and the European Nail Society.
