Dr Aamir Haider, a University of Toronto dermatology resident, received the Barney Usher Research Award in Dermatology for his paper, "The Association Between Socio-Economic Status Influences and Care by a Dermatologist for the Treatment of Acne."

Criteria for the award include the originality of ideas, potential importance of the work, clinical relevance, methods and evaluation of results.

Dr Haider has already had eight research papers published and is no newcomer when it comes to winning awards. He won the Research Scholar Award for 2000 from the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto; the Research Award for 2001 from the College of Family Physicians of Canada; and, in 2002, he won the Instructor of the Year Award from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto.
