Call for entries 2006

Deadline 5 February 2006

The CDA Public Education Award is granted for excellence in furthering the understanding of dermatologic issues and encouraging healthy behaviour in the medical, surgical and cosmetic care of skin, hair and nails. This public recognition will be awarded in the form of a plaque.

Categories

Entries may be submitted in the following categories:

  • Industry
  • Media
    • Print (newspaper, consumer magazine, trade publication, etc.)
    • Radio
    • Television
  • Not-for-profit orgnizations

Eligibility

Industry
All entrants must be industry organizations with original programs, projects or activities first implemented between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005. An advertising or public relations agency may nominate a client's program. The CDA Public Education Award will be presented to both the client and the agency.

Media
All entrants must be journalists or freelance writers/editors/producers working in either the print or broadcast media. Entries must have been published or broadcast between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005. If an entry is comprised of a series of articles or programs, the final installment of the article or program must have appeared by December 31, 2005.

Not-for-profit organizations
All entrants must be not-for-profit organizations or government agencies with original contributions, accomplishments, programs, projects and activities that raise awareness in the field of dermatology. All activities must have been completed by December 31, 2005. Self-nominations are accepted.

Judging Critera

A distinguished panel of Canadian Dermatology Association members will evaluate entries and select winners based on the following criteria, relevant to their category:

  • Raises awareness of dermatologic issues among the general public or a targeted audience
  • Helps to change public perceptions of, or attitudes toward, healthy behaviours as they relate to dermatologic issues
  • Medical accuracy
  • Creativity/originality
  • Technical quality

Deadline

Entries must be received by February 6, 2006.
All winners will be notified by June 1, 2006.

Entry Requirements

All categories

  • Five originals of each entry are required of all relevant materials (pamphlets, press releases, tear sheets, videos, etc.).
  • Five completed entry forms, one attached to each copy of the submission (photocopies of the entry form are acceptable).
  • Five copies of a typewritten summary of not more than 200 words which includes the following information:
    • Description of entry/purpose of entry
    • Intended audience/size of audience
    • How entry promoted dermatology
    • Goals and objectives of program (if applicable)
    • Feedback
  • Two copies of organization logo, (camera-ready artwork, PC compatible disk or 35MM color slide).
  • If an advertising or public relations agency is submitting with you, please include two copies of their organization logo as well.

Radio
Special note: Each entry must be dubbed onto blank cassette tapes with one entry per tape. A series submitted as one entry must be submitted on one tape.

Television
Special note: Each entry must be dubbed onto blank 1/2 " VHS tapes with only one entry per tape. A series submitted as one entry must be submitted on one tape.

The Canadian Dermatology Association is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged entries. All entries become the property of the Canadian Dermatology Association and will not be returned.
