The CDA Young Dermatologists’ Volunteer Award recognizes outstanding volunteer medical and dermatological services to the community by young Canadian dermatologists who are in private practice. More than one award per year will be considered. No award need be granted in any one year.

The volunteer services could be at the local, provincial, national or international level. It is envisaged that teaching (specialty, medical students, residents, family physicians, nurses, lay persons) and administrative responsibilities would be the most likely volunteer services. Consideration will also be given to involvement with patients’ rights groups, medical history societies, political action groups, and religious or charity activities provided they had a medical or dermatological aspect. The same would apply to these services given in Third World countries.

Eligibility
A dermatologist who is 45 years of age or less, or has been in practice 15 years or less and is a member of the Canadian Dermatology Association. Members cannot nominate themselves.

Nominations
The closing date for acceptance of nominations will be be March 29, 2006. Three supporters are needed to nominate a dermatologist for the award. Nominations will be in writing and will include the candidate’s curriculum vitae and a brief submission as to why the individual should receive the award. Include names and addresses of nominators.
