Professional Biography
Dr. Marlene Tan Dytoc is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Dermatology and Cutaneous Sciences of the University of Alberta. She is certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. Dr. Dytoc is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. She is a member of the Capital Health Authority, Alberta Society of
Dermatologists, the Canadian Dermatology Association, and other medical societies.
A graduate of the Medical Technology program in Rochester, New York, USA, Dr. Dytoc pursued studies in Microbiology and Immunology and was awarded her Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Toronto, Canada. She earned her medical degree at the University of Toronto, and completed her Dermatology residency at the University of Alberta with specialty courses and training in Toronto, Vancouver, Boston, Los Angeles and North Carolina.
In her private clinic and at the University of Alberta, Dr. Dytoc specializes in General and Cosmetic Dermatology, with clinical interests in the management of acne, brown spots and hyperhidrosis. She has an ever-expanding cosmetic practice employing revolutionary aesthetic advances in skin rejuvenation such as Botox, Restylane, intense pulsed light and laser.
Dr. Dytoc conducts clinical trials in cytokine research, and develops novel immunomodulatory approaches for the treatment of dermatologic conditions, including localized scleroderma (morphea), vitiligo and skin cancers.
Dr. Dytoc teaches medical students and residents in dermatology, family medicine and internal medicine. She is an invited speaker for continuing medical education of family physicians.
Dr. Dytoc lives in Edmonton, Alberta, with her husband, Harvey.
