| The position of the Canadian Dermatology Association on the use of self-tanning creams is that they are safe and do not harm the skin. Their mode of action is that of a dye to give the skin a colour. It is important to note that these creams do not protect the skin from sun damage and that the users must use sun protection as well. Some creams combine self-tanning and sunscreen, and these are the most useful.
