What is a Dermatologist?

The Canadian Dermatology Association seeks to promote equal access for all Canadians to timely and high quality medical care for diseases of the skin, hair and nails. CDA undertakes advocacy in skin health issues, provides leadership in continuing medical and public education, and promotes and distributes dermatologic knowledge and research.

In Canada, the name "dermatologist" is reserved for those medical specialists who, in addition to having earned a medical degree, have further completed an intensive five-year program of advanced medical and surgical training in the prevention, recognition and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair, and nails. All dermatologists must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and/or or the Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec.

The Canadian Skin Patient Alliance is a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing support, education and advocacy for skin patients in Canada.
