Since 1989, the Canadian Dermatology Association’s annual, nationwide Sun Awareness Week has helped educate Canadians about dangers of excessive sun exposure — and reduce the incidence of skin cancer in the country.
This year’s Sun Awareness Week will take place Monday, June 2 to Sunday, June 8, 2014, and will be marked by a number of events and activities, including:
The CDA will be holding free, public skin cancer screenings and other events throughout Sun Awareness Week.
The screenings will take place in cities and towns across the country. To find the screening clinic nearest you, check the list of confirmed dates and locations on our events page.
CDA dermatologists will be visiting elementary schools across Canada throughout Sun Awareness Week. Learn which schools we’ll be visiting in your area on our events page.
Visiting dermatologists will be sharing kid-friendly information on sun safety to prepare children for healthy outdoor fun this summer — and you can help!
Share this sun safety video with your child, and make sure he or she always uses sunscreen!
Download and print this word search for your child. It’s a great reminder to be sun safe and protect your skin!
Download, print and fold this fortune-teller. It’s a great project to pass the time, and keep sun-safety top of mind!
If you know any teens — either individuals or, even better, a group — who are interested in video, let them know about the CDA’s Sun Awareness Week Video Competition.
We’ll announce the winners at the end June. The submitter of the best video will win an iPad. Runners-up will receive Apple gift cards.
Together, we can help teens get involved — and protect their skin this summer!
