Description

  1. This is a national award that will be given annually to three Canadian dermatology clinical teachers who have made outstanding contribution to resident teaching, and have inspired and mentored residents in their programs.
  2. Any faculty member involved in full or part-time clinical teaching of dermatology residents in Canada is eligible to be nominated. Previous nominees who have not received the award can be nominated again, yet the award can only be conferred once.
  3. Three awards shall be presented annually at the CDA Resident and Fellows Annual General Meeting held during the CDA Annual Conference. Winners will be honoured with a recognition plaque, and $1000 will also be donated to their division's resident education fund, sponsored by an unrestricted educational grant from Dermik Canada.

Guidelines

  1. Only one clinical teaching faculty member may be nominated from each dermatology division. The faculty member need not be aware of their nomination.
  2. The faculty member should be nominated by the chief resident(s), who will solicit nominations from all the residents in the division and hold a closed-ballot election if more than one faculty member is nominated.
  3. Nomination should consist of a completed nomination form (attached) and a comprehensive letter outlining the reasons for the nomination. This letter may be written by any one or several of the residents within the division, and should reflect the collective opinion of the residents in the program. The letter must provide sufficient and detailed information, as well as specific examples to convey the excellence and efforts of the nominee in clinical teaching and mentorship. Nominee's curriculum vitae may be included but is not necessary.
  4. The selection committee is composed of members of the RFS Executive Committee.
  5. The deadline date for receipt of nominations is April 1, 2010.
